LABIAPLASTY – VAGINAL PLASTIC SURGERY
Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgery to correct the shape of the inner lips (labia minora) and outer lips (labia majora) to address feminine aesthetic and functional requirements.
Cosmetic surgery of the inner and outer lips can be performed for aesthetic reasons, when labia minora protrude beyond labia majora, to eliminate asymmetries and correct age-related changes.
Defects can be congenital or acquired: the intimate parts might increase in size due to an excess of testosterone (a male hormone) in the body of a woman, causing physical and psychological discomfort. Labiaplasty solves these problems.
To enlarge the outer lips (labia majora), the injectable hyaluronic acid is used. This procedure is very effective, minimally invasive, and the cost is quite acceptable. However, it must be noted that in order to maintain the effect, the procedure must be repeated approximately once every 6-12 months.
If the patient wants to reduce the size of the inner lips (labia minora), then surgical correction is appropriate. Dr. Skarparis removes excess skin and forms the right shape of the intimate area.
Reduction of the labia can be carried out under local anesthesia when the anesthetic is injected directly into the genitalia or is performed under general anesthesia in conjunction with other cosmetic surgical procedures. The plastic surgeon chooses the appropriate type of anesthesia, being sure to consider the patient’s health status.
